Beautiful books featuring queer and trans writers
I first started my publishing journey in high school when I became the editor of the school’s literary magazine. This would spark a love of publishing that persists today. In 2017, my friends Joy Young, Briana Noonan, and I started Prickly Pear Printing, which sought to use digital and letterpress printing techniques to publish narratives of queer love, joy, and growth in our We Grow Anyway anthologies.
In 2023, I purchased a small Kelsey Excelsior 6x10 printing press, as well as type, furniture, and more.
I have an opportunity to outfit my home studio with printing and book-binding machinery, thanks to a local printer, that would have a huge impact on my ability to print more books at a larger scale. My goal is to grow my printing operation so I can print poetry manuscripts by queer and trans writers, and to eventually open the studio so that others who are interested in printing can have access to the equipment to do so.
